Fort Street Asset Management is an independent investment firm based in Honolulu.

Our primary investment vehicle is the Fort Street Fund, although we also manage a small number of separately managed accounts. We deliberately limit the number of investment partners we work with, allowing us to maintain a highly personal relationship with each family.

Our History

Richard Wertheimer and Clinton Dodson set up Fort Street Asset Management in 2019. Previously, they managed the portfolio together at Morgan Stanley beginning in 2016. Clint manages the firm’s operations, while Richard is the portfolio manager.

Drawing on more than three decades of experience across global markets, we bring institutional investment expertise to individuals and families. Client assets
are held by independent custodians and third-party administrators (not Fort Street), providing institutional safeguards, transparency, and oversight.

Fort Street is one of downtown Honolulu’s oldest streets, shaped by the city’s early waterfront history and ongoing reinvention. The name carries a sense of permanence, resilience, and deep connection to place.

Our Team

Richard Wertheimer is Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager of the Fort Street Fund.

He has more than 30 years of experience across portfolio management, proprietary trading, institutional equities, and strategic advisory work in global financial markets. He spent much of his career based in Hong Kong, Taipei, and Shanghai.

Richard began his career at Barings Securities and Merrill Lynch before managing capital for George Soros, Stan Druckenmiller, and Citadel Investment Group. He later built the institutional sales and trading business for the Yuanta Group in Taiwan and advised Macquarie on strategic initiatives in Greater China.

He was among the first Americans to live in China following the normalization of diplomatic relations between the United States and the People’s Republic of China, and he is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Richard relocated with his family from Hong Kong to Honolulu eleven years ago. He initially established an investment management practice at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in Hawaii before co-founding Fort Street with Clint Dodson in 2019.

Having invested through multiple market cycles over more than three decades, Richard brings to Fort Street’s investment partners a rare combination of institutional investment experience, a broad international perspective, and an extensive global network of investment and industry relationships.

Richard currently divides his time between Honolulu and Hong Kong.

Clint grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he excelled in both academics and athletics. He served as captain of the football, basketball, and baseball teams while ranking in the top 5% of his class. He went on to accept an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he was honored by the opportunity to serve his country. At West Point, Clint was named captain of the football team during both his junior and senior years and, playing tight end, still ranks among the Academy’s all-time leaders in receptions.

Following graduation, Clint commissioned as an infantry officer and later served as an Airborne-qualified Ranger during combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. After completing his active-duty commitment, he continued to serve in the Reserves as an economic risk officer.

Clint spent 11 years as a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Global Wealth Management, focusing on risk management and asset allocation for his clients. He and Richard met in 2014 and began working together at Morgan Stanley shortly thereafter.

Clint lives in Kailua with his wife and three children. A dedicated fitness enthusiast, he enjoys staying active with his kids and playing golf.
